Tsukuba Monogatari: 28th post
Randy’s here. He’s my replacement. I collected him from the Hotel Sun Route to give him a whirlwind tour of Tsukuba by car. It took about ten minutes.
“Did you see all the sights?” Jennifer asked when we picked her up for dinner. “Well, we saw the city center, and The Company,” Randy said.
“What else is there?” I asked. I was open to suggestions, but none were forthcoming.
I saved the hot spots for today: John and Carole (the neighborhood Laundromat), and Mt. Tsukuba. As we drove out toward Tsukuba-san, I pointed out the kanji for Tsukuba. Randy consulted his dictionary. “The bottom part of “Tsuku” looks like “suicide,” he said.
“Randy,” I said sternly, “you’ve only been here for two days!”
