Tsukuba Monogatari: Fifth post
I fell into step with Hori-san (the HR manager) on the way back from lunch one day and told him how wonderful it was to have a company car. He asked me if I’d had any accidents yet.
No, I said, omitting mention of a near-miss in the parking lot of the local post office.
He said, “At The Company, there is an average of two to three accidents per person per year, from hitting a pole to hitting a person.”
He did not state his conclusion explicitly, but I imagined something like: “…so don’t feel too bad when it happens to you.”
Should I feel encouraged?
