The Topaz Stories Exhibit (finally!) opened in the Utah State Capitol Building on January 18, 2022. It is free to the public and will be on display through the end of the year. I’m excited to share a few photos, which were taken a few days before opening:
A reception will be held in the Capitol rotunda on April 22 (4-6 pm), at which time, some of the contributors will travel to Salt Lake City to see the exhibit. The 26 writers who are represented in the exhibit are:
First row: Ann Tamaki Dion, Amy Eto, Tamesuke Harada, Taneyuki Dan Harada, Norman Hayashi, Ruth Hayashi, Jonathan Hirabayashi;
Second row: Nancy Hirabayashi, Dan Hirano, Tracy Takayanagi Hui, Roy Iwata, David Izu, Jeanie Kashima, Tom Kawakami;
Third row: Yoneo Kawakita, Kerrily Kitano, Meri Mitsuyoshi, Gail Hoshiyama Nanbu, Setsuko Ogami, Ruth Sasaki, Ben Takeshita;
Fourth row: Yae Wada, Ken Yamashita, Jon Yatabe, Yae Yedlosky, Carol Yoshimoto.
We have already gotten some local press: “‘Society can do better’–Topaz Stores exhibit at Utah Capitol shares tales of hardship, redemption.”
Will we need to make an appointment to visit the display. We are a part of four.
Thank you!
No appointment is necessary! Just check the Capitol hours. Thanks for your interest!
